VTG Crown Trifari Alfred Philippe Etoile Lava Glass/AB Rhinestone Brooch Rare

This vintage jewelry piece is a Crown Trifari "Etoile" brooch, featuring blue "lava" glass stones and aurora borealis (AB) rhinestones set in a silver-tone metal. This is a Vintage piece so some wear is inevitable. That said, this brooch is nearly flawless and is in excellent condition with no damage whatsoever and minimal wear present. Exactly as shown in the photos. Designer: The "Etoile" (French for "star") collection was designed by Alfred Philippe, Trifari's head designer who previously worked for Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. Era: This piece was widely advertised by Trifari in magazines such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar in February of 1959. It is considered mid-century vintage. The central, irregularly shaped, iridescent blue stones are known in vintage jewelry collecting as "lava" glass or "ice" glass.
The outer navette (marquise) and small round stones are blue aurora borealis rhinestones, which give off a multi-colored shimmer. The setting is typically rhodium-plated metal, known for its bright, tarnish-resistant finish. Value and Collectibility: The brooch is signed "Trifari" with a crown over the'T' on the reverse.
