TRIFARI Owl Rhinestone & Enamel FUR CLIP Blue Belly Art Deco Alfred Philippe

Hard to find Trifari Alfred Philippe art deco rhinestone owl fur clip in great condition for it's age. It is signed Trifari with crown above the T on the clip. Trifari mark with crown above T and the mark pat. On back of the owl. Means this fur clip was in the process of applying for a patent.

If it had the patent number on it, then that would mean the patent number was granted for the fur clip when it was made. Beings this fur clip doesn't have the patent number and the patent was filed January 8, 1941 then the brooch was most likely made sometime in 1940 at the earliest or later before patent number was issued February 11, 1941. The patent was eventually granted and this fur clip design was given the patent number 125,184. See last picture of patent info for this fur clip that I found online. This owl fur clip measures 1 5/8" by a tiny bit over 1" widest width. No broken or cracked stones. Some of clear rhinestones have discoloration, but not blackened. They still have lots of sparkle. With a magnifying glass I can see a scratch on a facet on the upper part of the big blue stone, see 2nd to last picture.

There is a little bit of enamel worn off on the feet. Little bit of wear and scratches to the rhodium plating on this fur clip. I took really close pictures showing the scratches to the plating. There is a number 5 etched on the back side at bottom right side, see pic.

There is a little bit of play with the clip. It moves 3/16 before getting tight when opening.

I put it on a sweater and it stayed in place. Majority of my items for sale have come from estate sales and auctions. I try to be very picky about looking each item over so I describe them properly.
