Since the 1920s, Trifari has been one of the most respected and admired producers of costume jewelry in the United States. Founded in 1910 by Gustavo Trifari (1883 - 1952), the Italian-immigrant son of a Napoli goldsmith, the company has designed jewelry that's been worn by countless high-profile clients, from Mamie Eisenhower to Madonna. Trifari Jewelry was first known as Trifari and Trifari, founded by Gustavo Trifari and his uncle in 1910. The company name changed to just Trifari after Gustavo's uncle left.
In 1917, Leo Krussman joined and then Carl Fishel in 1925. They renamed the Company Trifari, Krussman, and Fishel, which is where the signature mark "KTF" derived.
Trifari became one of the most prolific and influential costume jewelry companies. Based in New York City, the great designer Alfred Philippe joined the company in 1930 (previously of Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels) and is often credited for the superb designs, workmanship, and distinctive classic look of Trifari jewelry. Philippe remained head designer until his retirement in 1968. Over the years, a group of prestigious designers created collections for Trifari. Some of the other notable designers included.
Alfred Philippe (1930 to 1968). Alfred Spaney (The late 1930s to 1940s). David Mir (1930s and 1940s). Lucius Passavanti - New York (1955 to 1970).Jean Paris (1958 to 1965). Andre Boeut (1967 to 1979). Diane Love (1971 to 1974).
Marcella Saltz (1980s to 1990s). As well as Kunio Matsumoto, Kenneth Jay Lane, and Aldo Cipullo in the 1970s. In the late 1980s into the early 1990s, Trifari offered Limited Edition high-quality pieces that replicated original Trifari designs from the 1940s. The Trifari TM pieces are the last of the signed Trifari jewelry and were of very high quality and stunning designs. These limited editions were usually limited to only 350 to 500 pieces and are difficult to find. Thank you for looking and for your kind consideration.
