Rare 1949 TRIFARI by Alfred Philippe Red glass rag doll Tom Tom brooch in very good condition. They do show some age turning a bit yellowish.The Parisian born Alfred Philippe trained at the prestigious design school LEcole Boulle. After emigrating to the US he worked as a fine jewellery designer for William Scheer Inc. One of the foremost manufacturing jewelers of the Art Deco era. Scheer created items for Cartier & Van Cleef & Arpels and Philippe was responsible for several full collections for these prestigious houses. Following the Crash in 1929, Philippe moved to Trifari as a designer, eventually becoming the head designer where he worked until his retirement in 1968.
