Rare 1940s Trifari by Alfred Philippe gilded sterling silver yellow crystal duck/bird brooch in very good condition, with slight discoloration on the gold plating. The Parisian born Alfred Philippe trained at the prestigious design school LEcole Boulle. After emigrating to the US he worked as a fine jewellery designer for William Scheer Inc. One of the foremost manufacturing jewelers of the Art Deco era. Scheer created items for Cartier & Van Cleef & Arpels and Philippe was responsible for several full collections for these prestigious houses. Following the Crash in 1929, Philippe moved to Trifari as a designer, eventually becoming the head designer where he worked until his retirement in 1968.
