Early Trifari Alfred Philippe Royal Crown Trefoil Crystal Rhodium Plate Brooch
Some fine surface scratches, light surface and silver finish wear. All stones are original and intact, and that is hardly surprising for an early Trifari piece because most of the stones are firmly set by hand. The marquise, square, and chaton stones are a mix of very good to fair, as many small stones have greyed over time. Replacing them will require care and expertise, given the manner in which they are set--they are not simply glued in place but securely bezel set. Note the fine details, such as the milgrain bezel lines, and geometric arrangements. Back of brooch is signed with one of the first and earliest crown-style Trifari marks, with the large "T" and crown used by Trifari following the transition from TKF, dating it to sometime after November 1937/early 1938. A very exciting, important piece, completely intact in a rare royal crown design with swags and trefoil patterns.
