Crown Trifari Alfred Philippe Chandelier Crystal Brooch USA

GUSTAVO TRIFARI & LEO KRUSSMAN began manufacturing and designing jewelry here in Providence Rhode Island in 1918. In 1925 they were joined by CARL FISHEL and in that year they incorporated. The first mark on their jewelry was KTF. The name TRIFARI was trademarked in 1938. The Crown over the "T" was added in 1940. Their lead designer from the 30s to the 60s was Alfred Philippe. He is most famous for his "fruit salad" designs. Hopefully this info will help you to date the pieces you have. One thing to remember is that there is no such thing as an "unmarked TRIFARI" - every piece was signed. They actually ran ads to that effect. In the year 2000 the MONET group - LIZ CLAIBORNE - bought the company and the jewelry is now being manufactured in Asia. One of the things they are doing is bringing back the crown over the letter "T" and the market is being flooded by those pieces. The last signed genuine TRIFARI hallmark manufactured here in R. I is the word TRIFARI done in script.

The last pieces were signed into the late 90s. I'm hoping this thumbnail sketch helps when you're trying to put genuine pieces into your collections. For your consideration today is a rare and extremely well cared for and well stored piece of history.

The "Chandelier" brooch measures approximately 2.75" x 1.5" and weighs in at a substantial 21 grams - just shy of one full ounce. The piece contains 9, articulated, prong set, faceted crystals along with 2 mini rounds at the top.

The back is clean and the hallmark TRIFARI with the crown can be seen on the reverse. The piece has been in my collection since the 80s and has been kept in a closed box in a pet and smoke free environment. Thanks for taking the time to look and to read! If damaged I require photos.
