This scarce Trifari Treble Clef brooch c. 1948 is one of the most heralded and collectable creations of Alfred Philippe. It is prominently featured in many books on American costume jewelry, including Carla and Roberto Bruinalti'American Costume Jewelry - Art and Industry' Volume 2, page 107.
The Treble Clef brooch was first patented in 1941 (see the picture of the patent). This brooch was reproduced in 1948 as a part of'Renaissance' series. The brooch features gold plated titanium foundation adorned with prong-set large oval pink topaz and blue aquamarine rhinestones as well as smaller round bazel-set and pave clear rhinestones of various sizes. The brooch is heavy and substantial measuring 3.33" tall and 1.25" wide at the widest point.
It's signed Trifari with a crown over T and a number 5K8111. The condition is very good with just a bit of gold plating fading on the top. The rhinestones are all present and sparkling.
