Antique Trifari Clip-Mates Art Deco dress clips, dating to the late 1930s. Each features an elegant openwork scroll/swirl design accented with clear rhinestones in silver-tone metal with a rhodium-plated appearance. Both clips are marked PAT.

This patent was granted in 1936 to renowned jewelry designer Alfred Philippe for the innovative Clip-Mates mechanism associated with Trifari. The patented system was designed so dress clips could be worn individually or mounted onto a separate connecting brooch frame. Both pieces have the PAT. The connecting brooch frame is NOT included. Please note that the two clips have the same directional design and are not mirror-image pieces.

No additional Trifari signature was found. Each clip measures just under 1 1/2 inches long × approximately 1 inch wide.

These antique clips show age-related wear and patina. Several rhinestones are missing, and some remaining stones show age-related darkening/discoloration. Please review all photographs carefully for condition.

A fascinating example of early Trifari Clip-Mates jewelry featuring Alfred Philippe's patented 2050804 mechanism, appealing to collectors of Trifari, Art Deco jewelry, and early American costume jewelry.
