1951 Crown Trifari Alfred Philippe GEM OF INDIA Brooch Earrings BOOK PIECE

Some fine surface scratches, patina, and gold finish wear. NOTE: Some missing/dead baguette and marquise stones were replaced with new old stock Swarovski crystals of the same color, cut, and size. All remaining stones in good to very good condition with some yellowing of the larger pear-shaped stones (see pics).

NOTE: One of the earring clips had detached; it was repaired by resoldering it to the main earring. Back of brooch and each earring clip are marked PAT. And signed TRIFARI with the crown over the T.

Brooch was patented by Alfred Philippe for Trifari on October 2nd, 1951, patent no. 164,728 (earrings) and patent no. Brooch is prominently featured in COLLECTING COSTUME JEWELRY 202, by Julia C. Both earrings and brooch were featured in full page color ads in 1951, for the campaign It Wouldn't Be Christmas Without Jewels by Trifari. A copy of that ad is included in listing photos.
