Designed by Alfred Philippe, the Clair de Lune series was featured in "Vogue" and "Harper's Bazaar" magazines in 1950. This piece features open-back faux moonstone demi-lune glass cabochons with square cut faux Sapphire and crystal chaton cut rhinestones. The fur clip also functions as a brooch complete with locking C-clasp. The brooch measures 1 3/8" x 1 1/4". All stones are exceptionally brilliant. The goldtone Trifanium plating is in excellent condition. The Design Patent was issued in February, 1950 to Alfred Philippe, Patent No. 147,191 Signed TRIFARI with prominent crown on the fur clip mechanism. On the brooch itself, and numbered 18.
