This one is the original version introduced by Trifari in 1948. It has a sleek and stylish Art Moderne/Retro design with just the right amount of rhinestone accents. This necklace was patented by Alfred Philippe in 1948, patent no. 151,711 (filed August 4th, 1948).
It was featured in a few 1948 ad campaigns. A clipping of one of those ads, taken from page 55 of the December 5thh, 1948 issue of The Omaha Herald, is in the listing photos. Underside of one of the panels next to the clasp is signed TRIFARI DES. COPR (with a crown over the T), a common signature of Trifari seen on early pieces produced prior to 1955. An incredible, rare, early Trifari design. It is extremely high quality, with solid construction right down to the smooth and secure clasp.
